Pink Floyd's "Discovery" is here!

Pink Floyd Discovery box set Dave Gilmour Roger Waters Nick Mason Richard Wright James Guthrie Wish You Were Here Dark Side of the Moon Animals Piper at the Games of Dawn Momentary Lapse of Reason The Division Bell Live 8 Storm Thorgerson

EMI has released the highly-anticipated "Discovery" box set of the band's 14 studio albums. All are digitally remastered by James Guthrie, co-producer of "The Wall," one of the great classics included in this Floyd dream collection. Nothing will disappoint here. "Dark Side of the Moon," "Wish You Were Here," "Animals" and "Piper at the Gates of Dawn," featuring Syd Barret, the band's original lead singer, guitarist and main influence have been repackaged and remastered. More recent fans from the 1980s and 1990s have "Momentary Lapse of Reason," and "The Division Bell," efforts led by Barret's replacement, Dave Gilmour.

Note: Gilmour lead the band after bassist Roger Waters left and tried to end the Floyd. The band performed one last time during the Live 8 concerts of 2005, before keybordist Richard Wright died of cancer three years later. While rumors of a reunion of the surviving members have circulated ever since Wright's passing, Gilmour and Waters have appeared on stage together for charitable causes, and toured separately performing both Floyd material and solo work with drummer Nick Mason along for the ride. "Discovery" also includes new CD booklets by Storm Thorgerson, the band's long-time artist, as well as a 60-page art booklet.

Why would I buy "Discovery?" I was a late entry into Floyd fandom - my mother bought me "The Wall," in 1979, when I was 12. "Another Brick in the Wall," was no. 1 on the music charts then and every kid's signature song of rebellion. Indeed, it was an awkward introduction to arguably the one of the greatest rock bands. But there was my reason to catch up with earlier releases, and to follow up with new ones. From the early years when Barrett lit the psychedelic spark that established the Floyd, through the band's most creative years in the 1970s, to its finale of commercial, but satisfying sell-outs, "Discovery" covers it all.

This is a hard-to-resist package that looks beautiful and sounds incredible (this music was meant to be digitally remastered). Keep it in a safe place and enjoy.
