Truly one of the great soul singers--"Stand By Me" alone would merit that salutation--Ben E. King was also on the receiving end of songs by many of the top writers of the period, such as Phil Spector, Carole King, Doc Pomus, and the immortal Lieber/Stoller team. King's gorgeous baritone, these songwriters, and the flawless '60s Atlantic Records' production make for most of this two-disc set.
