B-Boy Records was one of the first rap labels started as the original wave of rap acts began to fade in the early '80s. They released a great many 12" singles by acts like Cold Crush Brothers, Jewel T, KC Work, Levi 167, and Spicey Ham -- artists who haven't really stood the test of time but helped keep rap and hip-hop going strong at a time when many wondered if the genre would die out. One act that B-Boy discovered became legendary: Boogie Down Productions, whose KRS-One is still keeping it real today. This 15-track CD compiles the best B-Boy had to offer, and includes BDP's landmark cut, "Criminal Minded." A nice sampler for rap fans who want a history lesson
