Rayvon - My Bad ( AUDIO CD )

My Bad is truer to dancehall's computerized cartoon sonics than anything Shaggy's done since "O Carolina" -- owing to Rayvon's considerable reggae success since his single "No Guns, No Murder," perhaps. But the seriously dark soul number "In the Wintertime" (built on Syl Johnson's "Is It Because I'm Black") takes an evocative break from the tiresome player cant and gags. Chief among the latter is the PG-13 "Damn," where Rayvon cleverly, if explicitly, recounts his efforts to avoid letting his lady down too soon -- "I can't be lookin' lame, so I was thinking of the Mets and the Yankees game."
