MTV went ahead and capitalized on the never-ending reality TV craze of the new millennium and made a movie. The Real Cancun appeared in theaters in spring 2003 and introduced eight sex-crazed drunkards to America as they partied like rock stars under the Mexican sun. Naturally, the young, careless spring breakers needed some quality jams to coincide with their heathenish behavior, and The Real Cancun soundtrack highlighted their various flings with drink and sex. Combining a mix of hip-hop and punk-pop, The Real Cancun features catchy selections from Crazy Town, Trick Daddy, and Hot Action Cop. Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock have been a spring-break staple for over a decade with their hit "It Takes Two," for it's one of those songs that never goes out of style. Other jagged punk gems like Simple Plan's "Grow Up" and "Over Seasons" from Authority Zero are nicely put between live snippets of vacation recounts from the Real World kids themselves. The Real Cancun is a decent party album, a fine package capturing the mayhem of those who amused themselves in Mexico.
